Chris Beckwith joined the UMore Park team in October 2007 as the on-site Project Manager. Beckwith brings over ten years of project management experience to the UMore Park project, mostly with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT). Her responsibilities at UMore Park include assisting the Vice President of Statewide Strategic Resource Development in the development of the UMore Park concept master plan as well as in managing on-site contractors and consultants.
As a civil engineer with Mn/DOT, Beckwith worked in all stages of transportation project development including planning and programming, design, construction and maintenance. She has extensive experience in managing consultants and contractors and has worked in the field as a construction project engineer on a variety of construction and maintenance projects. Prior to leaving Mn/DOT, she was considered Mn/DOT’s leading expert in bridge and roadway anti-icing systems and had successfully installed a system on 35E over the Mississippi River in St. Paul. She had also developed the preliminary design for a system on the new 35W bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis which will replace a system that was lost in the 2007 bridge collapse.
Beckwith also has experience in soils and materials testing with Braun Intertec Corporation and research experience as an undergraduate research assistant with the University of Minnesota Civil Engineering Department.
Beckwith received a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota in 1998; a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of St. Thomas in 2006; and is a registered professional civil engineer in the state of Minnesota. |
