Smart Grid Technology Capstone

Four students in the Master of Science in Management of Technology (MOT) program in the Technological Leadership Institute are conducting a capstone project to assess the feasibility of developing UMore Park as a "smart grid" community. Working as a team over the 2010-2011 academic year, the students will analyze existing and future smart grid technologies for homes and electrical grid infrastructure to design a smart grid platform that could incorporate new technologies as the UMore Park community develops. They will also provide cost and risk/benefit analyses of these technologies and a recommended implementation plan that aligns with UMore Park’s 25- to 30-year development timeline. The final product will outline the benefits that smart grid technologies can have for the 20,000 to 30,000 people living and working in UMore Park.
